Tobacco Cessation Primer Expectations

What This Primer IS and IS NOT

Clear expectations for optimal learning experience

This Primer IS:

  • An introduction to evidence-based tobacco cessation principles
  • A foundation for understanding the 5A model and brief interventions
  • Self-paced learning with knowledge assessment and certification
  • An overview of pharmacotherapy basics for tobacco cessation
  • Public health perspective on tobacco use disorders and policy

This Primer IS NOT:

  • Hands-on clinical practice or patient counseling sessions
  • A substitute for supervised clinical training in tobacco cessation
  • Interactive role-play or simulated patient encounters
  • Comprehensive pharmacological prescribing guidelines
  • Sufficient for becoming proficient in tobacco cessation counseling

🚭 Remember: This primer provides the theoretical foundation and evidence-based knowledge. To develop practical tobacco cessation skills, you’ll need additional hands-on training, clinical supervision, and real-world patient interaction experience.
