Why the self-learning module?

We’ve developed a self-learning tobacco cessation module to align with VKN NIMHANS’s mission of democratizing addiction & mental health knowledge. This module, primarily meant for healthcare professionals and counsellors, comprises three lessons with several topics each, offering evidence-based strategies and interactive learning. It’s designed for easy access and scalability, supporting VKN NIMHANS’s goals.

Certificate Module name	Primer on Tobacco Cessation
Learning Level	Intermediate
Target Audience	Best suited for healthcare providers (psychiatrists, medical doctors, psychologists, counselors, nurses etc.). Learners who have no clinical experience or are not in a clinical position may find that the module material is not tailored to them
Module Aim	The objectives of this certificate module are to recognize the public health problem of tobacco use disorders and outline the principles of tobacco cessation
Module objectives	After completing the module, you should be able to recognize the public health importance of tobacco use and associated policy and summarize the screening, brief intervention 5A model and extended intervention, as well as basics on pharmacotherapy for tobacco cessation.
Design	Three Lessons Each lesson has 3 topics and one quiz Each Topic include a “written description,” a “didactic presentation,” a “recorded video,” and “engaging questions“ One needs to complete each lesson and topic and successfully pass the quiz (>80%) to go to the next lesson.
Duration	5-6 hrs To be completed within one month of enrollment
Professional Development Certificate	On completion of all lessons, topics, and quizzes successfully (>80% score), you can download an “e-certificate of Achievement” with score.
