2.1 : What Alcohol Does Inside My Body
Alcohol affects almost every organ over time. Some common effects patients experience: gastritis (burning stomach pain, especially in the morning), fatty liver, hepatitis, and eventually cirrhosis (permanent liver scarring). Long-term heavy drinking also raises the risk of certain cancers — mouth, throat, food pipe, and liver, among them. It can affect the heart, and heavy drinking without enough food can cause serious vitamin deficiencies affecting the brain and nerves.
